Who we are
Every day, children in America go to school with the expectation of learning, growing, and coming home safe. But for too many families, that expectation has been shattered by the devastating reality of gun violence in schools. A Lock for a Life was created out of frustration, heartbreak, and a deep commitment to change. We are parents, teachers, community members, and responsible gun owners who believe that common-sense safety measures—like properly securing firearms—can save lives.
The statistics are undeniable. Every year, children gain access to unsecured firearms, leading to preventable tragedies in homes, schools, and communities. Yet, despite overwhelming evidence that safe storage laws reduce gun violence, opposition to these simple, practical solutions remains strong. We refuse to accept excuses. We refuse to stay silent. We refuse to let inaction put our children at risk.
A Lock for a Life is not about politics—it’s about responsibility. This is not a call to take away guns. It’s a call to ensure that they are stored safely, kept out of the hands of children, and used responsibly. This is not a profit-driven initiative. This is a movement—a loud, unwavering voice demanding that our lawmakers prioritize real, effective, and low-cost solutions to protect our kids.
A lock for a life is such a low standard, but it would be such a huge improvement.
